THE FORTY-HOUR WEEK

TO THE EDITOR

Sir,—Whatever does Mr Armstrong mean bv telling outsiders that the 40hour week has done wonders for New Zealand, increasing trade, etc., when we see so many letters written by New Zealanders saying that the price of everything has risen in consequence and oeople are complaining that they are no better ofT? Moreover, there are the numbers of young people of a certain age who cannot obtain work on account of the high wage to be paid them, and there are the men who, on account of so much leisure, spend the time drinking and gambling. Will someone explain to inc these two opposite views and let me get down to the plain truth.—l am. etc.. Only a Woman.
