WRESTLING

COX V. RUMBERG The Dunedin wrestling public required to see “King Kong” Cox only once to realise that all that has been claimed for him as a sensation-making wrestler was more than justified. The fact that he will again appear here next Saturday night should, therefore, please everybody, particularly as his opponent will be Hal Rumberg, the tall and powerful Spokane wrestler, who is always extremely hard to beat, Cox’s physique never fails to arouse the greatest admiration when he is seen for the first time, but his physical attributes can only be appreciated to the full by his opponents, and much of his success is due to the fact that nothing seems to be able to stop him coming in for more His record includes wins against Hans Steinke, Howard Cantonwine, Dr Carl Sarpolis, Jaget Singh and many more of the same class. Whether he can defeat Rumberg remains to be seen, as the latter is recognised as one of the finest wrestlers ever brought to this country. He distinguished himself on his first visit to this country in 1933 and since then has become an even more formidable proposition.
