Many applications for the post of poison gas executioner have been received by the Lithuanian Government, following their recent order, substituting poison gas for hanging or shooting. In spite of the numerous applications, no official intimation that the post has been filled has yet been isued. Among the foreigners who want the job are eight Dutchmen, two Germans, two Czechs and one Hungarian. One of the Germans is said to be an artist from Frankfurtam-Main. In his letter oi application he said that he had s special inclination for the profession of executioner. No sentences of deatl by poison gas have yet been carriec out, although three murderers hav* been condemned to die in the new way.
