Ministerial The Acting Prime Minister (Mr P. Fraser) stated yesterday (says a Press Association telegram from Wellington) that at a caucus meeting a vote of sympathy with the Minister of Public Works (Mr R. Semple) in his indisposition was passed. Members expressed their high appreciation of the Minister's capable and efficient administration of the Public Works and Transport Departments, and hopes for his speedy recovery were expressed by all in attendance. A vote of sympathy with Mrs Parry, wife of the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr W. E. Parry), whose illness necessitated him remaining in Auckland during the caucus meeting, was also passed.

Mr G. L. Tapley left for Wellington yesterday. Mr W. Ross, of Aberdeen, who is making a world tour, is at present at the Hermitage, Mount Cook. Messrs A. L. Adamson (Invercargill), J. A. Edwards (Otikerama), and G. Ross (Palmerston) travelled by the second express yesterday, en route for Wellington, where they will attend the annual conference of the Royal Agricultural Society. Mr E. Head, of Seymour. Victoria, who came from Australia to enjoy winter sports at the Hermitage, Mount Cook, has left on his return journey ■

A pleasant little break in business routine took place in the committee room of the R.S.A. yesterday afternoon, when a number of his business associates met to say good-bye to Mr J. J. Wakefield, who will leave for the north at the end of the month. Mr Wakefield has been in charge of the Dunlop Tyre Agency in Dunedin for some years, and has been promoted to take charge of the company's branch in Auckland. During afternoon tea Mr Wakefield was presented with a useful writing set as a token of goodwill, for which he expressed his appreciation Under examination yesterday at North Taieri aerodrome by Flight-lieu-tenant Burrell. of the headquarters staff at Wirram, Miss G T Jardine, of Queenstown, and Messrs J. Messrs Winefield and Jardine receiving their instruction from Mr D. Campbell, who was formerly pilot instructor to the club.
