NEW STATION IN SOUTHLAND ERECTION WITHIN TWELVE MONTHS (Per United Press Association) INVERCARGILL, June 21. Southland is to have a new radio station in 12 months’ time._ This information, which was received from the Acting Minister of Broadcasting (Mr F. Jones) by Mr W. M, C. Denham, MP. was announced at a public meeting called to-night to discuss a proposal to form a Southland Listeners’ League. Gratification that the Government had decided on this step was expressed, tempered with regret that tha station would not be provided for a year. It was unanimously decided that a Listeners’ League should be formed and that improvement of the present broadcasting service for Southland should be oa® ®f its main objectives.
