SCOTTISH SOCIETY

.»» The monthly social and dance of the Scottish Society was held on Saturday evening in the Victoria Hall. As it was the first social of the year a large attendance of members and friends was present. The newly-elected president, Mr W. P. Smith, accompanied by members of the executive, were piped in by Dunedin’s 10-year-old boy piper, Master Airdrie Stewart. A special feature of the evening was the concert party arranged by Miss West. Items were given by Mr A. Snell, Mr H. Russell, Mrs Scott and Mr R. H. Stewart. The party was considered by all present to be the best yet heard at a Scottish Society’s evening, and members arc hoping that a second performance will be given in the near future. A sensation was caused by the piping of Master Airdrie Stewart. Highland dances were presented by Miss Rita Warren, Miss Betty Brown, Miss Jessie Brown, Miss M. Beissel, Miss Shirley MacPherson (Highland reel), and Master Jack Millar (Sean Triubhais). The music for the dance was supplied by the Arcadian Dance Band, and the M.C.’s were Messrs J. Ramsay and G. R. M'Crae.
