In addition to the floormat and felt underlay ordinarily employed, there is the special sound insulating material fixed directly to the floor itself, which deadens resonance set up through road vibration, and 'road vibration' is also minimised by the extra low pressure tyres. 4. (Centre Right) The scuttle embodies a pressed steel bulkhead which effectively cuts off driver and passengers not only from any remaining engine-noise and vibration, but also from heat and fumes. The windscreen-wiper mechanism is mounted in the scuttle bulkhead. 5. (Bottom Right) Add to all these precautions the fact that rubber is used to support the complete body on the chassis and you »ee how Austin silence and riding comfort are ensured.
