MR SAVAGE IN LONDON

SMITHFIELD MARKET VISITED AMAZED AT THE VASTNESS LONDON, June 17. The principal English importers and Mr Gervais Wood, chairman of the Central Market Committee, received Mr Savage, Mr Robert Forsyth and Sir William Hunt (New Zealand Meat Board members) at Smithfield. Mr Savage said 8000 tons of New Zealand meat were handled at Smithfield annually. This should be doubled to meet British needs. He was amazed at the vastness of the market. During their inspection they encountered Mr Fisken, the Australian Meat Board chairman, who is preparing a report for the Commonwealth. \
