The June meeting of the Kelso W.D.F.U. met in the hall on Tuesday. Owing to the absence of the president, Miss M. M'lntosh occupied the chair. The roll call was “ Sing, say or pay.’ The competition, "A plate of girdle scones,” was won by Mrs H. Winslade, with Mrs Kcrse second, and Mrs M'lntosh third. Hostesses were Mesdames Jenkins and Kerse and Miss C, Clark * * * The monthly meeting of the Tahatika branch was held on Wednesday afternoon. After the business an A.C.E. packet on "Meat” was studied, and later the conference delegates gave their report. * * * The June meeting of the Papanui branch was held in the Oddfellows Hall on Thursday afternoon, when Mrs Rutherford presided. Miss Johnston, the local Plunket nurse, gave an address on the aims and objects of the Plunket Society. Competitions for the month resulted as follows:—lndustrial, Mrs W. Lischner 1, Mrs M. Robertson 2, Mrs Taylor 3; baking—Mrs Rutherford 1, Mrs W. Lischner 2, Mrs Williams 3. Hostesses were Mesdames A. Hancox. A. Wilson. Kane and A. Mills and Miss G. Kane.
