IDOLS "ARRESTED"

More than 1000 idols representing Chinese gods have been " arrested by soldiers and placed In a "concentration camp" in the Chao An district of the Kwangtung Province, South China. This action has been taken to discourage idol worship, and the spread of superstition. Dismayed at the widespread beliefs shown the Provincial Government has sent lorry loads of armed troops to collect all the Idols and to mass them in one temple.' This is now the official place for idol' worship, an innovation which the authorities hope will gradually break down entirely local superstitious beliefs.
