OFFICIAL FORECAST STILL UNSETTLED The following is the official weather forecast:— An extensive depression of moderate intensity covers the New Zealand area, its centre being located west of the North Island. It is slowly moving eastwards, and an anti-cyclone is now situated over Eastern Australia. Indications are for:— Winds.—Westerly at first north of Kawhia and Tauranga and between Hawke"s Bay and East Cape, backing soon to south-westerly, elsewhere south-easterly to southerly prevailing, moderate to strong generally and rising at times to gale force in the Cook Strait area. Seas.—New Zealand waters: Rough about Cook Strait, elsewhere moderate, but rising on the w-st coast of the North Isjand and south of East Cape. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong southerly winds, with moderate to rather rough seas. Weather.—Still unsettled, with rain at times in most districts and some snow on the ranges; temperatures cold, improving to-mor-row, however, especially in western districts and the southern portion of the South Island. WEATHER IN DUNEDIN Yesterday was fine and there was bright sunshine throughout the day. The weather was cold, however, and a light breeze blew from the north-east. The maximum temperature was 44 degrees and the minimum 35 degrees. The barometer fell sharply in the afternoon to 29.70 inches, but rose to 29.75 by midnight. IN NORTHERN CENTRES (Special to Daily Times) AUCKLAND, June 17. Fog and heavy showers in the morning were followed by occasional light rain in the early afternoon, but conditions later cleared and the remainder of the day was fine and sunny. The wind was light from the north. The barometer began to fall in the later part of the morning and at 5 o'clock registered 29.50 inches. WELLINGTON, June 17. Light rain fell in the early part of the morning and cold, overcast conditions prevailed most of the day, with a moderate to strong southerly wind. The minimum temperature last night was 43.1 degrees and the maximum to-day 47.0 degrees. CHRISTCHURCH, June 17. The weather was cold and overcast in Christchurch to-day, with a light south-west wind. There were light showers this morning, but no rain fell after noon. The maximum temperature was 43 degrees.
