REVIVAL OF EMIGRATION

LORD BLEDISLOE’S VIPIWS AN ARDENT ADVOCATE LONDON, June 15. Lord Bledisloe, speaking at the Empire Advertising Convention, said: “Economic nationalism has undoubtedly come to stay. Britain will find compensation first within her national borders, and secondly in Empire trade. I am an ardent advocate of revival of emigration in the Empire and also believe that Anglo-American friendship is vital. There would be no war if England and America were to declare that they would not permit it.” Sir Stanley Reed, president of the London Association of Empire Newspapers Overseas, said: “When we are invited sacrifice Empire trade policy as a gesture to the United States we should remember that the United States is spending £32,000,000 in a direct attack on British shipping.”
