REQUEST TO GOVERNMENT PROMISE MADE TO COMPANIES (Per United Press Association) PALMERSTON N„ June 16. Several matters of importance to the cheese industry were discussed by a conference of delegates from factories in the Taranaki, Manawatu, Hawke’s Bay, Bush, and Wairarapa districts. The following resolution was carried: “That this meeting requests the Government to honour its promise to the cheese companies for the past season by giving them a price for cheese to enable the average cheese company for the past season to pay out IJd per lb more than that now paid out by the average butter companies.” A motion was carried recommending that the basic price should be paid on the 91J-92 grading of cheese, the 92£ graded product to get 7d premium and the 93 graded to get Is 2d. A motion was also carried approving of the shrinkage on waxed cheese being set down at lj per cent.
