ERNEST DRAKE’S STUDENT CHOIR

MONDAY’S RECITAL The booking for the Student Choir recital in the Town Hall Concert Chamber on Monday next opened yesterday morning at Chas. Begg and Co. The first-day bookings were particularly heavy, indicating that this young choir is as popular as ever. A successful evening's entertainment from every point of view is assured, as the choir's work is said to fc- well up to the standard of previous recitals, and the programme promises to be a most attractive one from tin listeners’ point of view. Special interest attaches to this year s selection of soloists, all of whom have been chosen from the choir's ranks With the exception of one or two of these who could safely be counted among Dunedin’s favourites, the soloists are young and orilliant singers whose talents are as vet comparatively unrecognised by 'he Dunedin public but whose claim to a measure of Dunedin’s regard musicalN should be beyond question after they have made their debut at Monday’s recital Much of to-day’s vocal talent goes unnoticed with the gradual decline of the concert stage from popularity and on the infrequent occasions who: recitals of this nature occur there is a tendency to cling to old favourite, at the expense of lesser-known but equally competent artists
