CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH

ANNUAL SOCIAL AT RAVENSBOURNE The anniversary services in connection with the Ravensbourne Congregational Church were continued on Tuesday evening. Pastor Sands presided over a large attendance. Pastor Sands said he was pleased to welcome such a large gathering, which showed that the people still continued to take a keen interest in the church. He also extended a warm welcome to visiting friends from the .Dunedin. Port Chalmers and local churches.

The secretary read the annual report, which showed that the church had experienced a successful year. The attendance at the different services was above the average of the previous vear. Special mention was made of the good work being done by Pastor Sands.

Referring to the report, Mr Sands paid a tribute to the secretary (Mr William Facer) for his services over a number of years, and also conveyed his best thanks to all the church officers.

Short speeches were made by the Mayor of West Harbour (Mr A. Smith), the Rev. A. Mead. (Moray Place Congregational Church), the Rev. J. Henderson (local Methodist Church), Mr K. G. Roy on behalf of the Port Chalmers Cljyrch. and Mr J. S. Little (Dunedin) on behalf of the lay preachers. The choirmaster (Mr John Connor) had prepared an excellent programme, the following contributing:—Songs, Mrs Sprat, Mrs Yardley, Misses J. Edwards and Irene Montgomery, and Mr Harold Facer; quartet, Misses D. Connor and D. Facer and Messrs H. Facer and A. Jackson; recitation. Miss Ruth Hayward: violin solo. Miss M Connor; duet. Mr J Connor (flute) and Mr A, Jackson (violin); pianoaccordion, Mr J. Green. Several anthems were given by the choir. Miss E. Connor and Mr Ron, Abernethy were the accompanists. The women of the congregation supplied supper, and a hearty vote of thanks was accorded them and also the performers.
