RETURNED SOLDIERS’ CLUB The Returned Soldiers’ Small Bore Rifle Club held the usual weekly shoot on Monday evening, the shooting of some of the members showing considerable improvement, three obtaining the possible. The scores were as follows:—A. G. Bayliss 80, R. Bowie 80, J. Harrison 80, D. Marr 79, C. James 78, O. Holden 78, W. Goudie 77, H. Manning 77, D. M’Kay 77, W. Meikle 76, H. Edmonds 76, A. Next Monday the first shoot for the Cowie Shield will be fired, the following being the teams: —No. 1 team —R. Bowie, J. Harrison, J. Judson, D. Marr, T. Mackie; No. 2 team—H. Edmonds, W. Goudie, H, Manning, W, Meikle, O, Holden; emergencies. A. G. Bayliss, T. Menzies. KYEBURN CLUB The Weekly shoot of the Kyebum Miniature Rifle Club was held on the club range on Tuesday. The winner of the Preston Rifle Button was A. H. Griffiths (70). and the winner of the Hislop Handicap Button was W. W. Pearson after a series of shoot-offs. The average of the top 10 men was 76.6. Details of the club shoot are as follows:—A. H. Griffiths 79, J. M. Griffiths 77, W. W. Pearson 77. H. G. Wooding 77, J. M. Crutchley 11, A. F. Pearson 76. W. Creighton 76, A. Mann 76, S. C. On June 7 some 20 members of the Omakau Club were present. Mr Corrigall won the gold button, Mr A. Clouston the silver button, and Mr Macpherson the bronze button. The highest scores were:—Corrigall 76 Ball 75j A. Clouston 74, Stevenson 74, Petherick 73, Simes 72, Quigley 71, Kay 70, Black 70, and Kennedy 67. On June 14 17 shooters were present. Mr Stevenson won the gold button, Mr Kay the silver button, and Mr Robertson the bronze button. The highest scores were:—Stevenson 78, Black 77, Kay 77, Ball 77. Steven 76, Petherick 74, Black, jun., 76, Quigley 75. Corrigall 75. Robertson 73. On the latter evening Clyde Club paid the Omakau Club a visit, and in the ensuing match Omakau won by 754 to 747—a narrow margin of seven. The evening was very enjoyable, and it is to be hoped that it will be the forerunner of many similar occasions.
