SPELLMAN v. COX The popular John Spellman, the hardy wrestler from Connecticut, will be seen in action again at the Dunedin Town Hall on Saturday night. His appearance on this occasion will be of special interest in that he is to bo opposed by “ King Kong ” Cox, whoso visit to the Dominion has caused enthusiasm among wrestling patrons. If there is one man who can be expected to hold the powerful and rugged Cox in check it is Spellman, whom Dunedin enthusiasts know as one of the best wrestlers who have ever come to this country. All Spellman’s bouts are marked by high-class, aggressive wrestling, the vigour of which never flags, and much of his popularity is due to the fact that he is always ready to meet his opponent at least'half-way. His qualities in this respect will be tested to the full when he comes up against Cox for the second time, as the latter is noted for his rugged wrestling. Cox is recognised as one of the greatest, drawcards among the wrestlers in the United .States, and a man who can command such success must have exceptional attributes. Cox. in fact, has everything that is required to get among the big money in the wrestling game. He is 17 stone in weight, nearly six feet high, and just under 30 years of age. COX BEATS RUMBERG (Per United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH. June 16. King Kong Cox beat Hal Rumberg by two falls to one in a solid wrestling contest to-night. Cox having the first fall recorded against him in New Zealand. The third round opened with rough tactics. Cox following with two dumps and elbow jolts for a fall with a press. Rumberg evened in the fifth after a flying scissors off the ropes. He repeated it in the seventh round, but lost his balance. Cox gaining the decision with a press.
