DEFINITELY ON THE WANE
INFANTILE PARALYSIS OCCASIONAL CASES LIKELY (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 16. “ For the whole of New Zealand the position is satisfactory, as the population is becoming immune,” said the Director-general of Health (Dr M. H. Watt), when interviewed to-day in reference to infantile paralysis. Dr Watt said it was likely that cases would continue for some time, probably for a year, but the disease was definitely on the .vane. There was no reason to fear a recurrence next summer. POSITIVE CASE AT ASHBURTON FIRST FOR FIVE WEEKS (Per Dotted Press Association) ASHBURTON, June 16. A boy aged four years and a-half. a pupil of the Convent Kindergarten School, was sent to hospital as a positive paralysis case. This is the first case for five weeks. TWO CASES AT WELLINGTON (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON. June 16. Two further cases of infantile paralysis were reported from the Wellington Public Hospital to-night. They concern a boy. aged six, from the city area, and another, aged five, from Petone. Neither is suffering from an acute form of the disease.
