Within a few days the former courthouse at Mercer—one of the oldest public buildings in the township—will be only a memory. Having been sold, the building is now being demolished (says the Auckland Star). Since the court ceased to sit in Mercer, the build ing has been used solely as an office for the police. As the courthouse oh structed the view of the level crossing, the Town Board has pressed, for its removal. A new police office is to be erected, well clear of the corner or which the old building stood.
