DAIRYING IN CHINA

VALUABLE SHIPMENT OF HEIFERS NEW MARKET FOR BREEDERS (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 1. A valuable consignment of 40 heifers in calf, mostly grade Jerseys, willleave Auckland to-morrow by the Japanese motor vessel Sydney Maru to the order of two leading dairying firms in Shanghai. Five of the heifers are a Shorthorn-Jersey cross, and the whole shipment has been selected from the herds of Messrs R. and A. Crawford, of Onewhero. It is understood that a sum of nearly £2OOO was involved in the deal.

It is believed that this may lead to the development of an export trade which will open new avenues of income to the farmers of New Zealand.
