ARM AMPUTATED

DRIVER OF MOTOR LORRY (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 1. Pinned under a load of kauri logs after his motor trailer had capsized at Glen Eden this morning, Daniel Baker, aged 17. a Maori, of New Lynn, was rushed to the hospital in his own truck and immediately operated on, his arm being amputated. He also received serious head mjuries and concussion. His condition is serious. Baker was employed by his father, a cartage contractor, and was driving a lorry and trailer loaded with logs, when he met another truck on the Waikaukau road. There was little room for the trucks to pass, and, when the wheel of Baker’s truck left the crown of the road, the trailer capsized and pinned him underneath.
