A FLIGHT ABANDONED CAPETOWN TO ENGLAND CAPETOWN, May 31. Flying-officer Llewellyn has abandoned his flight, and is returning to England'in a passenger plane. DUTCH AIR SERVICE BATAVIA TO AUSTRALIA BRISBANE, June 1. According to Herr H, Nieuwenhuis, general manager of the Royal Netherlands-Indies Airways, a Dutch air service between Batavia and Australia, serving all the Australian capital cities, is to be begun within the next few months. LINER DESTROYED BY FIRE KARACHI, May 31. Imperial Airways air liner Hengist caught fire and was destroyed in its hangar. The cause is unknown. Services to the East are not affected. FLIGHT ROUND THE WORLD MRS EARHART TAKES OFF MIAMI, June 1. (Received June 2, at 1.45 a.m.)
Mrs Earhart has commenced her flight. At 7.40 a.m. she radioed: “Everything O.K. We are on. the way.”
