Listeners to one of the Christchurch broadcasting stations enjoyed a mistake made by the announcer one evening last week. The programme was about to open, and there was a slight pause prior to the ringing out of the trumpet fanfares that precede the National Anthem. The National Anthem. however, did not follow. Instead there came the opening bars of that well-nigh forgotten tune “ God Bless the Prince of Wales.” Only a few bars were played before the record was whipped oil and the more appropriate strains of the National Anthem was heard as usual. Evidently it was a double-sided record, and the announcer had put on the wrong side. Advertising points out the merits of a product and impresses the buyer with' its desirability.
