OFFICIAL FORECAST UNSETTLED CONDITIONS An anti-cyclone is crossing the Dominion to-day, but a rather intense depression covers the western and southern portions of the Tasman Sea. Indications are for;— Winds—Variable at first over the northern half of the North Island, otherwise northerlies prevailing, light to moderate generally, but later becoming strong about and south of Cook Strait, backing to south-westerly during to-morrow in the far south. Seas—New Zealand waters —Moderate to rather rough south of Hokitika, and later rising generally south of Capo Egmont and also about Cook and Foveaux Straits, elsewhere slight to moderate.—Eastern Tasman Sea — Northerly winds, light to moderate in the northern portions, with slight to moderate seas, becoming strong with rough seas in the southern portion. Weather—Fair to fine in most districts, but rain developing soon in South Westland and the far south, and unsettled conditions and rain extending to most areas with a westerly aspect within the next 21 to 36 hours; temperatures mild. WEATHER IN DUNEDIN The weather yesterday was calm and mild, with sunshine during the morning and an overcast sky in the latter part of the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 55 degrees, and the minimum 37 degrees. The barometer rose to 30.16 inches early in the evening, but later foil slightly.
