STRIKERS AND POLICE

CLASH IN CHICAGO SEVERAL SHOTS FIRED CHICAGO, May 29. (Received May 30, at 10 p.m.) Twenty strikers were injured, two seriously, when 1000 men who were marching upon the Republic Steel Corporation plant were beaten back by police armed with riot clubs. Several shots were fired, but all denied firing them. The strikers were attempting to force the closing of the plant, which is operating on a curtailed basis.
