OFFICIAL FORECAST RAIN .IN SOME DISTRICTS The following is the official weather forecast:— Pressure is high from Central Australia across the north Tasman Sea to northern New Zealand and also to the eastward, while a series of shallow westerly depressions extend from Southern Australia across the South Tasman. Indications are for:— Winds—Variable in the northern half of the North Island, elsewhere moderate to strong and rather squally northwesterlies, reaching gale force in some exposed positions, but backing in places temporarily to the west or south-west. Seas—(New Zealand waters)—Rather rough to rough in the Cook and Foveaux Strait areas and rather rough at times on the West Coast of the South Island, elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman SeaWinds light to moderate and variable and seas slight to moderate in the northern portion; moderate to strong north-west to westerly winds,. and rather rough seas in the southern portion. Weather—For the most part fair to fine in the eastern and northern districts; rain at times in districts, with a westerly aspect from Kawhia southwards, and at scatKawhia southwards, and at scattered places in Otago and Southland; tcmpeiiaturcs moderate to mild. WEATHER IN DUNEDIN The weather on Saturday was fine and mild, with no wind. Temperatures were mild, the maximum being 54deg, and there was a long period of sunshine. The barometer fell slightly in the evening. Fine weather continued yesterday, and the temperatures were higher. The sky was lightly overcast, but there was intermittent sunshine. Total, Jni 15min. IN OTHER CENTRES (Special to Daily Times) AUCKLAND, May 30. ■ Overcast conditions ruled at the week-end, with occasional light showers. The weather this evening was fine, with conditions cloudy to overcast. The wind was light from the south. WELLmGTONf May go. Fine mild weather continued on Saturday with a light breeze from the north, The wind freshened during the night and the early morning. Sunday was overcast, and though the sky soon cleared, the wind remained moderate to strong and squally. CHRISTCHURCH, May 30. A cold easterly breeze blew throughout Saturday with an overcast sky. Sunday was brilliantly fine, with neither cloud nor wind. The barometer has been falling since Friday, but was rising this evening, when it stood at 29.98 in.
