REPLY TO MR M'COMISH

STATEMENT BY DR M'MILLAN

Dr D. G. M'Millan, M.P., in a statement made on Saturday again denying that he uttered the words attributed to him by Mr F. M'Comish at a public meeting at South Dunedin on Tuesday night last, suggested that Mr M'Comish was confusing statements made before and after the election. This was supported, Dr M'Millan added, by the fact that Mr M'Comish had attributed to him the statement: "We have it [Parliament] controlled by 11 men "who are incapable of doing it." When the Coalition Party was in power, Dr M'Millan said, the number of Cabinet Ministers was 11, whereas since Labour had been in power the number had been increased to 13. Evidently Mr M'Comish was ignorant of the. latter fact.

Actually, however, the Coalition Government during its last year of office was composed of only 10 members.
