CORONATION BALL AT WAIKOUAITI
Coronation day was celebrated in Waikouaiti by means of a ball given by the benedicts and spinsters of the district. The hall was decorated in the loval colours of red. white and blue, and to those who looked up the ceiling appeared to be a huge Union Jack. At intervals around the room Union Jacks held souvenir balloons while fronds of fern made a welcome splash of green. The spotlight was a novel feature and greatly appreciated by the younger dancers. Six novelty dances added to the enjoyment of the evening, and for the Coronation walb Mr and Mrs G. D. Payne were hailed as king and queen of the ball. Mr A. Fell, the Mayor, made suitable re-
