CORONATION SERVICE

SPIRITUAL SIGNIFICANCE PEOPLE CLOSELY ASSOCIATED LONDON, May 26. The Archbishop of Canterbury, speaking in the Upper House at the Convocation of Canterbury, expressed thankfulness for the unimpeded celebration of the Coronation, which eclipsed all its predecessors in realisation. Their Majesties deeply felt the spiritual significance of the service, with which the whole people were associated to an unprecedented extent. The Archbishop of Canterbury read the King's reply to the Convocation's loyal message, in which he said he would always support the work of the Church, whose prayers would sustain him. The Archbishop of Canterbury also paid a tribute to Mr Baldwin's services to Britain and national life. DISPLAY OF BRITISH UNITY GERMANS IMPRESSED LONDON, May 26. A new German " peace offensive " is exoected in London, according to the Manchester Guardian's diplomatic correspondent, whu points out that German comment on the Coronation has been demonstratively cordial and that the German press is now almost comoletely free from its customary Anglophobia. Even the demand for colonies is being put in the background. The correspondent adds that the Coronation certainly seems to have impressed General von Blomberg and other German observers, some of whom are interpreting it as a display of British unity. It is believed in London that the German expressions of respect and friendliness for Britain will increase.
