ZEPPELINS IN WARFARE

REGARDED AS USELESS EASY TARGET FOR AEROPLANES LONDON, May 27. (Received May 27, at 11.30 p.m.) Dr Eckener told the Senate Subcommittee for Military Affairs that he believed an airship of the Zeppelin type would never again be used in Germany as an instrument of warfare, due to the fact that it would be an easv target for fighting aeroplanes. He said that England abandoned her military airship programme for the same reason. He denied that helium could not be used in lifting zeppelins, and requested that Germany be permitted to use it for commercial purposes.
