AMATEUR GOLF
THE BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP. PLAYER'S CURIOUS MISTAKE LONDON, May 25. (Received May 26, at 9 p.m.) The Hon. Michael Scott was the victim of a curious mistake of his own making in the second round of the Amateur Golf Championship. Believing that his opponent, Cyril Tolley. was two up, Scott picked up his ball at the seventeenth green, saying," Thanks for a verv pleasant game." Actually, Tolley was only one up. He suggested that the ball be replaced and the hole played out, but under the rules the decision to give up a. hole cannot be altered or recalled.
