"X Y Z," Ravensbourne.—ln the Borough of St. Kilda the minimum width for a right-of-way, or " leg-in," to one section is 10ft, and the minimum area of each section must be not less than 4000 square feet. In cases where there are two back sections the council may give permission for a minimum 15ft right-of-way, provided this is converted into a joint and common right-of-way. " Tapanui."—ln the event of a vacancy in a borough council the returning officer on receiving notice of the vacancy must appoint a day within not less than 25 days nor more than 28 days for the election. Nominations must close not less than 10 nor more than 12 days prior to the election, and the roll is to be closed 14 days before the election. Notice of the closing of nominations and the date of the election in a newspaper commonly circulating in the district is necessary. Where an extraordinary vacancy occurs within 12 months of the date fixed for the next triennial election the council may fill the vacancy by election as prescribed by the Local Elections and Polls Act or by appointment by the council itself. Where a vacancy occurs within six months of the next triennial election the council may determine that the vacancy shall not be filled.
