TROUT INJURED BY EXPLOSIVES
tO THE EDITOB Sir,—Under the above heading a lot-a! appeared in your issue of the 25th inst. in which it was stated that officials of the Acclimatisation Society were of the opinion that the dynamiting of trout in the Leith was the reply of some disgruntled anglers to their decision not to stock Tomahawk Lagoon with stripped fish from the Leith 1 think this opinion is quite without justiiication. I am personally acquainted with the majority of anglers who fish the lagoon and have always found them to be clean sportsmen, who would not lower themselves to do an act of the kind mentioned, nor are any of the Tomahawk anglers disgruntled. The angler's object in writing about the stripping of fish for Tomahawk was to enlighten the society's Research Committee on a subject of which its members were ignorant. It is just as feasible to suggest that the explosions in the Leith were caused by some of the officials to cover up the effects of the faulty stripping of last season. Are those officials aware that a gaff with a handle, seven feet long, was found in the bed of the Leith during the week-end? Perhaps it was used by some disgruntled angler. —I am, etc.. Ex-Angler. May 25.
