RUGBY FOOTBALL

ANNUAL MEETING OF LAWRENCE CLUB At the annual meeting of the Lawrence Football Club Dr W. Sutherland presided over a good attendance. The annual report and the balance sheet, which were considered very satisfactory, were adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron. Mr W. J. Suters; president, Dr W. Sutherland; vicepresidents—Messrs R. F. Batchelor. C. M. Jackman, J. Deans, R. G. Drummond. A. L. Hart. E. A. Winchester, D. Stewart, J. Colgan, H. Hollands. T. W. Parkhill, N. D. Potts, and R. Stanton; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr R. G. Drummond; delegates to South Tuapeka Sub-union, Messrs R. F. Batchelor and C. M. Jackman: auditor, Mr A. M'Lean; club captain. Mr P. E. Moodic; coach, Mr R. G. Drummond; Management Committee—Messrs Batchelor. Jackman, Donohue. Moodie. Cavanagh, Deans, Colgan, Moyle, and Hogg; selectors —the coach, the team captain, and Mr Jackman. A fairly strong team is assured for the coming season, but the departure of players from the district and the non-observance of the Saturday halfholiday will have a hampering effect. The first match in the South Tuapeka banner competition will be played on Saturday, when Tuapeka Mouth will visit Lawrence.
