Y.W.C.A.
STREET COLLECTION TO-MORROW ' To-morrow a street collection is to. be taken up in aid of the funds of the local branch of the Young Women’s Christian Association. This ' organisation is one which is worthy of the support of the citizens of Dunedin, to whom it has rendered wonderful service for many years in assisting to make thousands of girls and young women fit and worthy to' take their places in a world which, of late years particularly, has been a very difficult one for those who have been obliged to work for a livlihood. The association helps a : girl to develop all sides of her character and to become strong, not only mentally and spiritually but also physically; in short, a fully equipped Y.W.C.A. girl is one who is ready and able to take a leading part in the life of the community. It may be mentioned that the recent infantile paralysis scare had the effect of causing a number of cancellations in the accommodation bookings at the Y.W.C.A. hostel, with a consequent; serious falling off in the revenue from that source, which is one of the principle channels through whicl funds for the carrying on of the or ganisation come. The appeal whicl' is to be made to-morrow will no doubt meet with a liberal response.
