DEFENCE INDUSTRIES
ACTION BY POLAND
“A STRATEGIC TRIANGLE” LONDON, Feb. 7. (Received Feb. 8, at 11.45 p.m.) The Daily Telegraph’s Warsaw correspondent says the Finance Minister, M. Kwaitkowski, who created the Polish port of Gdynia, has drawn up a plan in conjunction with the General Staff to transfer national defence industries to “ a strategic triangle ” in the middle of Poland. The industries are at present scattered throughout the country, but the most important is near the German frontier and Upper Silesia This the Genera] Staff believes would be the first to be attacked from the West, paralysing the production of armaments. 'while centralisation would enable the army t< operate effectively whether attacked from the east or west. The scheme will necessitate the building of oil pipe lines, electricity stations and arsenals, the work occupying 10 years and costing £100,000,000, of which £30,000,000 will be spent in 1937.
