EPIDEMIC’S TOLL
INFLUENZA IN ENGLAND LARGE NUMBER OF DEATHS (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, Jan. 8. (Received Jan. 8, at 9.25 p.m.) There were 325 deaths from influenza last week in England and Wales, and 128 in London alone. OUTBREAK IN AMERICA _ _ FILM ARTISTS AFFECTED ‘ HOLLYWOOD, Jan. 8. (Received Jan. 8, at 11.45 p.m.) The mild influenza epidemic which is prevalent in various parts of the country has halted production on several kinema plants. Helen Twelvetrees is the most seriously ill as the result of her leaving bed too soon after a major operation two months ago. Others suffering light attacks are Jean Harlow, Ginger Rogers, Bette Davis, Joel M'Crea, George Raft and Robert Young.
