Mr A. P. Nelson left on his return to Hamilton by the through express yesterday. Messrs J. C. Begg and K. W. R. Glasgow were passengers by the mid-day express yesterday en route to Auckland, where they will attend the meeting of the Australasian Association for the Advancement of Science. A Press Association cable message from London states that Captain R. L. F. Hubbard, of the Orient Line, has been elected an Elder 'brother of Trinity House. It is announced from London that Mr Dudley Ackroyd has been elected president of the British Wool Federation in succession to Mr Reddihough. The Union Airways liner Kotuku left the Taieri airport at 8.15 yesterday morning for Christchurch. Blenheim, and Palmerston North with Messrs L. T. Whelan and J. Bearpark (for Christchurch). Mr G. Gillespie (for Blenheim), and Mr R. Grcenip (for Wellington). The Karoro arrived from the north with Mr W. J. Broughton (from Palmerston North). The death of Mr John Thomas Dumbell. a meniDer of the earliest team of "All Black" footballers, has occurred at New "Mymouth after 13 years as an invalid. Mr Dumbell, who was 77 years of age, was born in Liverpool, and came to New Zealand when 13 years of age. He played for the Athletic Club, Wellington, and represented the province on 'various occasions. He was a member of the unbeaten 1884 New Zealand team, the first Dominion team to tour Australia.
