AMATEUR SWIMMING
OTAGO CENTRE MEETS A meeting of the Otago Swimming Centre was held last night, and was attended by Messrs D. T. Woodfleld (in the chair), J. M'Taggart, D. Watson. D. S. Binning, F. E. L. Forrester, D. Thomson, E. C; Isaacs, C. J. Leeden, B. Kerr, and E. Sonntag. Mr Leeden suggested that towards the end of the present season the centre should stage what might be termed a "swimming show," which would be carried out along the lines of a carnival with a programme composed mainly of novelty events.—Members agreed that the idea was a good one, and the matter was referred to ' the executive to bring down a report at the next meeting. An application from the Dunedin Club for permission to hold the Otago 500 Yards Flying Squadron Championship at its annual carnival was granted. In accordance with a suggestion from the club that an endeavour should be made to obtain free admission to the baths during club hours for parents accompanying children, it was decided to write to the City Council requesting that this concession be granted. Mr R. Calder wrote recommending the following panel of judges for Dunedin for the ensuing season:—Messrs R. Calder, R. O. Johnson. W. H. Matthews, H. E. Walker, W. Jenkins, E. H. James, Mrs E. C. Isaacs, and Miss J. Eggars.—The recommendation was approved. The secretary of the Macandrew Bay Regatta Committee wrote forwarding a programme of the swimming events to be included in the committee's annual fixture on Boxing Day.—The programme was approved, and officials were appointed to control the races. The Zenith Club was granted permission to amend the date of its annual carnival to March 2.
