COMING-OF-AGE PARTY
The Y.M.C.A. Hall at the Waitaid Hydro was the scene of a jolly evening when the many friends of Mr and Mrs F. Tew gathered to celebrate the coming of age of their youngest daughter, May. Both supper room and ballroom were tastefully decorated, and balloons, streamers, and novelties added to the festive nature of the occasion. Games, competitions, and dancing formed the programme, and Mr W. J. M'Lean was an efficient M.C. Solos were contributed by Messrs W. J. M'Lean, William M'Culloch, J. R. Henderson, and G. M'Lean, and an enjoyable quartet by Mesdames Campbell, Stewart, and Andrews and Miss M'Culloch. Mesdames M'Lean and Andrews were the accompanists. A "Kim's Game" competition was won by Miss S. Barry, and the winners of the novelty dances were Mr and Mrs M'Lean, Miss M. Tew and Mr P. Walls, and Mrs H. M. Tomlinson and Mr T. Buyer. At supper. Mr W. J. M'Lean, in a happy speech, wished the guest of the evening the brightest of futures and presented her with the customary key, and a bouquet was presented by Master Hugh M'Lean. Miss Tew suitably replied, and was the recipient of numerous gifts. Mr Tew. with Mrs Tew in a becoming gown of black crepe trimmed with white, together with Miss M. Tew in blue floral silk, received the guests. Amongst those present were:—Mesdames M'Lean. Stewart. . Andrews. Campbell, Tomlinson. Searle, and M'Culloch Misses Brunton. Coates.
