BOXING
KELLY BEATS NICHOL (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 7. The professional heavy-weight boxing contest between " Deacon" Leo Kelly, of America, and Claude Nichol, of Australia, ended disappointingly shortly after the opening of the sixth round. At this stage Nichol appealed to the referee for an examination of his right arm. which he had been unable to use in the preceding round. The doctors pronounced him as unfit to continue and the match was awarded to Kelly «on points. Nichol claimed the advantage up to the time of his retirement. He had the better of the weights, scaling 12st 131 b against Kelly's 12st 31b, while he also had the advantage in height and reach.
