MAUNGANUI DEPARTS CRUISE OF SOUTH ISLAND SYDNEY, Dec. 2. The Maunganui was due to sail tonight for a cruise of the South Island of New Zealand. She left the wharf at the scheduled hour and anchored in the harbour to permit the passengers to enjoy a ball aboard in calm water. The vessel resumes her voyage early in the morninq.
TRADE DISPUTE WITH JAPAN
CANBERRA, Dec. 2.
Sir Henry Gullett (Minister of Trade Treaties) is hopeful of reaching a settlement of. the trade dispute with Japan by the week-end. CONSTABLES DISMISSED SYDNEY, Dec. 3 (Received Dec. 3, at 11.30 p.m.) Two more con.r ibles were dismissed to-day as the result oi the Betting Commission report. The remaining seven who were suspended have been reinstated, but are subject to departmental action AIRLINER FORCED DOWN MELBOURNE. Dec. 3 (Received Dec. 3, at 11.30 p.m.) The air liner Lolia en route for Sydney, made a forced landing at Seymour owing to the blinding rain and bad visibility It struck a fence and turned over twice The eight passengers and two pilots escape.-) injury, but suffered severe shock. The machine was badly damaged.
