COMING-OF-AGE PARTY

On Saturday evening last the Roxburgh Town Hall was the scene of a jolly party, the occasion being the coming-of-age of Kathleen, only daughter of Mr and Mrs Berryman, of Roxburgh East. Mrs Berryman, who received the guests, wore a gown of black Chantilly lace. The guest of the evening wore a frock of white dotted net relieved at the'waist with a posy of pink roses. She also wore a black velvet three-quarter-length evening coat, lined with white satin, and handsomely trimmed with white fur; The hall was prettily decorated with greenery, balloons, and pink and white streamers, while paper hats, streamers, and blow-outs added to the- festivities of the evening. Dancing, cards, and games were indulged in. the duties of M.C. being capably carried out by Mr D. Riach. The music was supplied by a dance band, extras being provided by Miss M. Howell. Mr E. Jeffrey, and Mr F. Williams (Wyndham).

During supper, the usual toasts were honoured, and the guest of honour was presented with a gold key by her cousin (Mr R. Dickie, of Dunedin). The pink birthday cake, decorated with 21 candles, was the gift of Mr W. Saunders, an old schoolmate of Mr Berryman. During the evening a tap dance was given bv Miss Pauline Parker, of Dunedin. The guest of honour was the lecipient of many beautiful gifts, including a gold wristlet watch from her grandmother. The singing of “Auld Lang Syne” brought a delightful evening to a close.
