All other methods of dealing with stray dogs having failed, the municipal authorities at Istanbul have now put a price on their tails. In future everyone who takes a dog’s tail to the nearest police station will be suitably rewarded. Poison, shooting, and other methods of destruction have been tried in an effort to get rid of large packs of stray dogs which have invaded the fashionable quarters of the city, but in vain. Besides destroying poultry, the strays are suspected of spreading the germs of various diseases, so the authorities have decided to invite the co-operation of the public in fighting the menace.
