CONCILIATION COUNCIL MEETING BREWERY AND RELATED WORKERS Claims for an award by the Dunedin Brewers, Bottle Washers, and Aerated - Waters Workers’ Union were discussed at a Conciliation Council meeting held yesterday. The Conciliation Commissioner Mr S. Ritchie, presided.

The assessors for the union were Messrs R Salter, S. Knight, J. Shaw, H. Jones, and J. Robinson, secretary, and the employers were represented by Messrs H T Speight, J. Thomson, H. Carter, and A. S. Cookson. Agreement was reached on several minor clauses, but after a long discussion it w.u decided to adjourn until Saturday morning to discuss wages and certain of the conditions. The wages claims submitted by the employees ranged from £5 5s to £6 and from £1 12s to £3 15s for youths whil: in the employers’ counter proposals they offered wages ranging from £4 to £5, and from £1 5s to £3 10s for youths.
