CAPE BROOM
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I would like to know whether Cape broom Is a noxious weed. If so, it is high time that the City Council took steps to compel owners of property in the suburban areas of the city to clear their land of this pest. At the present time the broom is in full flower, and it is only a matter of a few weeks when the seed will be scattered broadcast on to those properties that are free from the weed. Trusting that the powers that be—the Department of Agriculture or City Councilwill take immediate action in the matter of eradicating this rapidly increasing menace to holders of clean land.— I am, etc,, No Weeds. [Cape broom is not a noxious weed, but the ordinary varieties of broom are in that category unless the local authority decides otherwise. Ordinary broom is a noxious weed in Dunedin and should therefore be eradicated. — Ed.. 0.D.T.l
