MECHANISED UNITS

AMERICAN MILITARY STRENGTH GERMAN REPORT DENIED WASHINGTON, Nov. 21. (Received Nov. 22, at 7.30 p.m.) A sensation has been caused by an article in the German military weekly Militar Wochenblatt stating that the tanks and armoured cars of the United States were second-rate judged by European standards. This is refuted by the War Department, which states that the paper is completely in error. The General Staff has completed exhaustive tests and is- satisfied that the mechanised equipment compares favourably with that of dny nation. It is pointed out that the author, Heinz Bach, erred because he discussed obsolete equipment.
