ARBITRATION COURT'S DECISION (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 21. Under an offer made b< the Auckland City Council last year, J. Edwards, coal merchant, of Grey Lynn, agreed to do one day's work weekly for the council to wipe off his arrears in rates totalling £34. While thus employed he received an injury, disabling him totally from January 16 to May 30 last, and a permanent 50 per cent, disability The Arbitration Court in its judgment held that the council was employing Edwards under a continuous contract for one day weekly at 15s 8d daily, and therefore compensation to the extent of £7B 14s 8d must be paid, plus medical fee (£1), and costs (seven guineas).
