SO NEAR AND YET SO FAR PICKPOCKET AND HIS INHERITANCE (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) CHICAGO, Nov. 6. (Received Nov. 8, at 6.30 p.m.) Eddie Guerin, aged 75 years, a former Chicago . pickpocket, notorious 31 years ago and the first man to escape from Devil's Island, was granted an advance «f 3500 dollars from a 67,000 dollar estate inherited from his sister and now in probate, because he is in "dire need." Guerin is now living in London, and is married to an English woman. He cannot return to America to claim the money personally because of America's extradition treaty with France.
