PORT CHALMERS NEWS
COMMUNITY SING A very successful community sing was held in the Laurier Theatre 'last evening, to raise funds to send the Port Chalmers Brass Band to the contest to be held at Gore next month and also in aid of the Volunteer Fire Brigade’s funds. Mr H. P. Desmoulins conducted the singing, and he • was assisted by Mr J. F. Himburg and Mr Alf. Pettitt at the piano. The theatre was well filled and many popular songs and choruses were sung with spirit. Special items were rendered by Mrs Hastie (songs), Mr J. Simpson (songs), Miss Joyce Todd (tap dancing) and Miss Muriel Caddie (piano accordion)
